Sungai Lembing

You can walk across this river. It is choked full of sand left behind from the tin mining operations carried out by British companies in Malaya. Pahang Consolidated Tin Mines have been mining for tin for many years in the Sungai Lembing area until mid 1980. This is one of the reasons why there are regular floods in the east coast around Pahang. The river can no longer carry away the rain water like it used to do. This was the price we paid for being the top world producer of tin. More recently, uncontrolled logging operations in the Pahang jungles also compounded this flooding problem.
